Electricity Rates 

Senate Bill 3 entails the most significant revisions to energy policy in the last quarter of a century.  Although it provides for a 12.5% renewable energy and efficiency standard, the most sweeping and expensive changes relate to coal and nuclear financing.  NCPIRG defended consumers' interests, and acheived significant gains, although serious problems remain.  Click here for the Win and Watch list.   

Natural Gas Rates

VICTORY!  On May 21, the Utilities Commission suspended PSNC’s unfair rate schedule, which charged consumers more for their natural gas usage in the winter if they had used less gas during the summer months.  Check out the legislative letter and residential petition organized by NCPIRG.
