By Rob - 6/26/2007 On Tuesday, June 26, Governor Easley signed into a law an NCPIRG-backed bill that will improve safety in chemical plants and provide the public and first responders with more information about the contents of these plants. The bill is a product of months of work by a Governor-appointed task force, legislators, first responders and advocacy groups.

By Rob - 6/18/2007 Last year, the big Internet providers pushed legislation that allowed them to serve only the most profitable areas, leaving many poor and rural areas with low-quality service or no service at all. Now they want to pass legislation barring local governments from serving the areas where private providers won't.
