Honda announced that they are moving their jet engine headquarters to the city of Burlington and will provide "up to" 70 jobs. Unfortunately, each of those jobs will cost taxpayers at least $182,000.

On Tuesday, June 26, Governor Easley signed into a law an NCPIRG-backed bill that will improve safety in chemical plants and provide the public and first responders with more information about the contents of these plants. The bill is a product of months of work by a Governor-appointed task force, legislators, first responders and advocacy groups.

Last year, the big Internet providers pushed legislation that allowed them to serve only the most profitable areas, leaving many poor and rural areas with low-quality service or no service at all. Now they want to pass legislation barring local governments from serving the areas where private providers won't.
